Every so often I throw entertainment
industry events “Just for the Fun of It!”
This “Not
Necessarily Just Singles” Valentine’s
Day Bowling Tournament was a memorable one, to
be sure! All my friends gave me their “wish
lists” off all the different matchmaking
and singles websites. I invited all of these singles
with a flattering/non-threatening: “someone
thinks you’re cute” kind of e-mail
– keeping my friend’s identity but
Round Robin-ing them into the same lanes which
were filled with other prospective singles –
bracketed, lane by lane, by age (20 – 25,
30 – 35, and so on up to 65!) The vast majority,
obviously, were entertainment industry professionals
ranging from 25 – 45 - and then we rotated
twice - up and down an age bracket each - so you
got to meet older and younger within a reasonable
range.
You can see by
the photos that things got carried away in my
lane! It devolved into a drinking game where strikes
enabled you to make rules. Thank God I was on
fire that night as the men had to take their shirts
off or bowl with their pants around their ankles
or kiss my tummy - it got silly, to be sure. But
it was an awful lot of fun!
We had marketed
the event as “Just for Fun” and hadn’t
intended to make money on it. But it was so overwhelmingly
successful, we accidentally profited $300 –
and that was after everybody’s shoes, balls,
and bowling to their heart’s content. So,
we adjourned the group into the karaoke bar and
ran the tab to $300 and closed the place down!
It was a fun night for everyone!
