Mazda

I'm particularly proud of this Mazda Warranty Training CD Rom. I helped a terrific team translate Mazda's eight technical manuals into a fun and interactive 40-hour multimedia certification process that could be delivered and monitored via the internet. The green freeway signs across the top (the Global Buttons) offer overall software navigation whereas the local buttons for each unit were designated by street signs, leaving the main area of the graphical User Interface available for streaming video, screen captures, bulleted lesson points, quizzes, etc.

The Route 66 theme not only unified the program visually but enhanced the educational process. When users begin each of the eight modules, they are given a trivia question about one of the eight states along Route 66. Upon completion of each unit, they take a quiz wherein answer “keys” are dragged from the multiple choice and/or true/false questions and “inserted” into the Mazda Miatas at the bottom of the screen. If the respondent selects the correct answer, the ignition rolls over, the doors open, the horn honks and the lights flash. If their answer is incorrect, the engine grinds. A reinforcing statement appears to clarify the lesson point. Upon successful completion of the entire unit (upon passing the quiz at the end), students are rewarded with the answer to the trivia question posed at the onset - and taken on a brief virtual tour of the state.

The body of each interactive lesson used screen captures, visual prompts and voice-over support to emulate the actual Mazda software the users were learning while offering the rationale behind Mazda's Warranty Claim Procedures and Policies detailed in the manuals.
