Otto Rigan and his rhesus monkey, Mucki, pose for a portrait. Notice Otto's unhappy face and twisted hair and Mucki's innocent face and dangling paw - Mucki habitually yanked on Otto's hair when no one was looking to torment him as part of their relentless sibling-esque taunting of one another.

Otto walks the cobblestone treets of Red Vienna with his Aunt and Godmother, Ottilie, followed by his hunchbacked father, Matej. If you look closely, you can see the monkey, Mucki, poking out of his father's vest

This is the newspaper illustration that heralded the story in 1928. You can see Otto reunited with his mother, Mary in the center; the statue of liberty bottom right; a rendering of the photo of Otto and Mucki on the bench in the upper right; his father Matej and Mucki telling fortunes on the street in the bottom left, and the church spires of Vienna top left.

This is the article that ran in the Chicago Tribune while Otto was en route - heralding his pending Holiday Reunion with his mother.

Eighteen month-old Otto upon Maria's departure from Vienna to seek a better life for her family.
